What is an NVQ?

A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is a work based qualification which assess the skills and knowledge people have and need to perform their job role effectively.

What does an NVQ cost?

An NVQ is funded by the Government and is therefore available FREE of charge (certain restrictions apply) to any new or existing employees aged between 16 and 24 years of age.

What does an NVQ involve?

Building a portfolio of work based evidence which includes observations, product evidence, witness testimonies, questions and answers and statement writing.

What support is given to the trainees?

An appointed Assessor will visit the trainee at pre-arranged, regular intervals and will assign personalized action plans of work to complete. They are also contactable in between visits, for any help and advice that may be required.

When and where is the training done?

Training can be delivered either at TFT’s training rooms, company offices, any chosen venues or one to one, at the trainees place of work. The frequency of training and assessment visits is negotiated with the Employer on an individual basis.

What are the benefits of completing an NVQ?

An NVQ establishes good all round knowledge, understanding and confidence in the job the trainee is required to do.

What is the situation for employees aged 25 and over?

TFT has a discretionary policy for training older Employees, which we will be happy to discuss with the Employer on an individual basis.
